Natalie Fitzhugh - Trainee Solicitor

I began my legal journey back in 2008, when I started my Graduate Diploma in Law.  At this time, I worked fulltime as a Health and Safety Officer for a leading temporary energy and temperature control solutions provider.  I completed my qualification in 2010 achieving a Distinction.

My career later diversified as I was appointed as support to the project management and corporate team at a hotel management company.  After a short period of working within the hotel industry, I became a senior manager and an active participant at board meetings.  My position at the company gave me a diverse background managing health and safety, human resources, compliance, estates management, project management and also involved working with the firm’s solicitors instigating and completing the sale and purchase of hotels.

I studied the LPC MSc whilst working fulltime at the hotel company. This qualification particularly focused on Business Management, which is a key area of interest for me.  In 2017, I completed the LPC, again achieving a Distinction.

Following the completion of my legal studies, I was appointed as Paralegal for a city centre law firm, working in the commercial litigation department.  This was an exciting new role for me at the time, giving me the opportunity to work on some high value debt claims and insolvency cases, as well as providing advocacy experience.

I took a short break from work following the birth of my daughter but am now excited to have started my training contract at Pickford Solicitors.

Whilst the return to work following maternity leave may have been daunting, particularly when starting a new role at a new firm, the team completely put me at ease from my first day.  What makes this firm unique for me is the genuinely friendly, warm and positive atmosphere.  Whilst my colleagues are all qualified, experienced and highly competent individuals, they are also really nice people (which I’m afraid to say has not always been my experience in the past).   For this reason, I can understand why customers are drawn to Pickford Solicitors.

The growing corporate team cover a range of services from commercial contracts to business sales and purchases, which was a real draw for me to work with the firm given my background working in the sale and purchases of hotels.

I am looking forward to the opportunity to progress my career and expand my knowledge and understanding in a range of matters and within the different disciplines that the firm specialise in, including Commercial Property and Family Law.

Thank you for reading my blog, I look forward to updating you further as I progress through my training contract.
