I recently completed a three-week work placement at Pickford Solicitors, where I had the opportunity to work within both the Corporate and Conveyancing teams.

I was involved in a range of tasks supporting live transactions. This largely included reviewing on boarding documents, drafting confidentiality agreements and stock transfer forms, preparing completion packs. All of which have given me an insight into the detail and precision required in practice, as well as teaching me how to execute the two with accuracy and efficiency. One of the most rewarding experiences was obtaining a redemption statement from a bank, which had been outstanding for some time. By contacting the bank directly and following up, I was able to secure the document within a short timeframe, allowing the matter to progress. This reinforced in me the importance of being proactive and solution-focused in a professional environment to support both the team and the client outcomes.

What stood out most to me was the collaborative and supportive working environment. I was encouraged to take on responsibility, ask questions, and contribute to the team, which made the experience both engaging and rewarding. It gave me a clear understanding of how teamwork and communication are skill sets that are very much required to working within a law firm.
This experience has strengthened my understanding of transactional legal matters.

I am very grateful to the team at Pickford Solicitors for the support they gave me, even during the busiest firm’s busiest month, as the teams were pressed against tight tax deadlines.

I would like to thank Harry, Simrit, Esther, Harpreet, Riya, Laura and Kiran for guiding, advising and supporting me over the last three weeks, I have learned so much within a short space of time, which I am grateful for.

I look forward to building on this experience as I continue my legal career beyond my studies.
